Professor/Chair ("Lehrstuhl") of Small Animal Internal Medicine (open rank)
The Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich invites applications for the following academic position (starting 1.2.2022).
The Clinic for Small Animal Internal Medicine is one of 5 Units of the Department for Small Animals at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich (UZH). It is an internationally recognized center of competence in many areas of Internal Medicine. It maintains an international and national research collaboration network and has access to an outstanding research infrastructure, including image analysis, omics platforms, and animal facilities. The Professor/Chair of Small Animal Internal Medicine will be responsible for maintaining and promoting outstanding translational/applied research in Veterinary Internal Medicine and innovative teaching modules at both undergraduate and graduate level. She/he will take advantage of the broad interdisciplinarity of the Vetsuisse Faculty, the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Zurich by establishing strong research collaborations. She/he is expected to offer European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM) residency program at the Clinic. She/he will supervise and be responsible for the Clinic for Small Animal Internal Medicine and all clinical services provided by the Clinic to animal owners and private clinicians.
Applicants must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine and either PhD or Habilitation as well as either an ECVIM or ACVIM certificate or an equivalent status. They must have an excellent research record in Internal Medicine and a strong interest in translational research. Additionally, Applicants must have demonstrated successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding and promotion of young researchers in their academic careers. For this, a convincing concept for the development of the field and the promotion of young scientists is to be presented and implemented. A high level of social competence is mandatory and knowledge of business administration is an advantage. Candidates must have several years of leadership experience as well as excellent teaching skills. Knowledge of the German language is warranted.
