Postdoctoral Researcher – image analysis/bioinformatics - Spatio-temporal genome and oncogene organization in cancer 80 - 100 %
Start of employment flexible, selection will start immediately and continue until the position is filledThe Surdez lab at the University of Zurich is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in image analysis and bioinformatics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to visualize and decipher the spatio-temporal organization of the genome and oncogenes in cancer.
Join our dynamic team, which focuses on aggressive pediatric bone cancers, particularly on Ewing sarcoma. In a recent study, we demonstrated how the STAG2 mutation, prevalent in this cancer, alters the formation of chromatin loops, resulting in increased invasive properties of mutated cells (Surdez et al. 2021, Cancer Cell). Currently, we are leveraging super-resolution microscopy and innovative molecular technologies to decipher and perturb these mechanisms in live cancer cell models.
- PhD or advanced experience in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong expertise in microscopy imaging analysis and bioinformatics, including experience in handling and analyzing high-dimensional data and various types of imaging data.
- Strong programming skills in R, MATLAB, or Python and experience with machine learning models.
- Solid understanding of the latest trends and methods in bioinformatics, super-resolution and confocal microscopy imaging.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating motivation and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
- Experience in scientific writing and publishing papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Knowledge in cancer biology and/or 3D genome organization is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with the analysis and interpretation of multiomics data is a plus.
