Department of Communication and Media Research (IKMZ)

Postdoctoral Position
80 %

The Media Change and Innovation Division, Department of Communication and Media Research (IKMZ), University of Zurich is seeking applications for a postdoctoral position. The successful applicant will contribute to a research project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) led by Prof. Dr. Michael Latzer and Dr. Moritz Büchi and also work on further topics that align with the division's research program.
The SNSF project aims at conceptually capturing and empirically assessing chilling effects, i.e., inhibitory effects on people's digital communication behaviors that result from their sense of being surveilled online from an empirical communication science perspective. The division's research program further focuses, among other things, on digitalization as socio-technical transformation, governance of media change, digital inequalities, algorithmic selection in everyday life, and digital well-being (see here the division's recent research focus).
