The Chair for Public Law with a focus on International and Comparative Law at the University of Zurich offers one position as Student Assistant (Hilfsassistenz).
Your responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated and bright student who is interested to work as part of our research project "Popular Sovereignty vs. the Rule of Law? Defining the Limits of Direct Democracy" (LIDD). The project, which is funded by the European Research Council, aims to assess where the legal limits of direct democracy should be drawn and how compliance with these limits should be reviewed. In particular, the successful candidate is expected to:- Perform research on direct-democratic instruments and their use in various European countries and collect relevant materials
- Contribute to the construction of a database on referendums held across Europe, in particular by coding referendum events
- Assist our team with other research tasks
Your profile
Applicants must have:- Completed a good Bachelor's degree in law or political science (or be close to completing such a degree)
- An excellent command of English, both written and spoken
- Strong analytical skills
- A genuine interest in issues related to direct democracy
