The Department of Geography at the University of Zurich is advertising a Fixed-Term Lectureship in the Political Geography research group.
The successful applicant will join the Political Geography research group and a dynamic, diverse and internationally oriented team. We are looking for candidates who can potentially lead our regional portfolio of the Horn of Africa with a focus on indigenous people, pastoralism and resource conflicts. In addition, you will provide teaching on Bachelor- and Master levels, particularly in the fields of political ecology and field work methodologies, and (co-) supervise PhD students in your field of expertise.
Applicants should have a PhD in geography or related disciplines, substantial field work experience in the Horn of Africa, including knowledge of local languages, a robust network for scholarly exchange in the region, and an international publication profile. Experiences in the acquisition of third-party funding would be desirable. Candidates must be proficient in English; basic German language skills would be an asset.
What we offer
We are offering a stimulating research environment, start-up funds to develop the own research profile, organize workshops and attend international conferences and meetings. The position is for four years initially, with a possibility for extension by another two years. The salary is commensurate with the regulations of the Kanton Zürich.
