The Hepatology Laboratory at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology focuses on the molecular mechanisms leading to immune-mediated and cholestatic liver diseases. In particular, we perform research in regard to the gut-liver axis, the development of cholestasis, liver fibrosis and cholestatic pruritus (itching). As of November 2025 or by appointment we are looking for a personality as a Technician, Dipl. BMA, MTLA, bachelor in biology
Your responsibilities
- Assistance and execution of animal experiments (mouse)
- Supervision and introduction of new staff members to animal experiments
- Genotyping (PCR-based)
- Tissue embedding and preparation of tissue sections for morphology/histology
- Skills to perform molecular biology experiments, especially RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, real-time PCR, protein isolations, western blot, immunofluorescence studies, ELISA, immunohistochemistry would be ideal.
- Flow cytometriy
- Familiarization of master students and PhD students with the daily laboratory routine
- Collaboration in block practicals (provision of material, organization of workstations, etc.)
- General laboratory work
Your profile
- Completed training as biological technical assistant, medical technical laboratory assistant (SRK recognition for foreign training qualifications) or completed biology studies (bachelor / master).
- Experienced in handling laboratory animals (mice) and performing mouse experiments
- Detailed understanding of basic biology
- Experienced in common molecular biological methods
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken German and English
- Enjoys working with undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs
- Open, helpful, enthusiastic, efficient, conscientious, reliable, accurate, flexible
- Ability to work independently and on one's own initiative as well as in a team
- Knowledge of common office programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Flexible working hours with willingness to work on weekends if required by (mouse) experiments
