Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology

Senior Research Associate, In Vivo Pharmacology (Immuno-Oncology) 80 - 100 %

Start of employment Immediate start or to be mutually agreed

The group of Prof. Schwank is working on translational genome editing and cell-based therapies. We are seeking an experienced Research Associate (80-100%) to drive the in vivo components of a translational research program developing in vivo CAR T cell therapies based on RNA–lipid nanoparticle technology.

The successful candidate will independently execute and analyze preclinical studies in humanized and syngeneic tumor models, contributing directly to milestone delivery within a translational research program.

Your responsibilities

You will work closely with the Molecular Biology and RNA-Delivery teams to produce milestone-ready, in vivo da-tasets demonstrating in vivo CAR-T generation and antitumor activity in humanized and syngeneic models. The role combines hands-on animal experimentation, sample processing, and immunological analysis. You will be responsible for planning and executing tumor studies in humanized and syngeneic mouse models as well as per-forming follow-up analyses such as flow cytometry, cytokine profiling, and histological readouts.

Your profile

Candidates may come from various educational paths; relevant combinations of education and experience are equally valued. The candidate has at least a
  • MSc in Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Pharmacology, or related field, with more than 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • BSc in Life Sciences with more than 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with mouse handling, including NSG or other immunodeficient strains.
  • Proficiency in liquid (e.g. NALM-6) and solid tumor studies.
  • Robust expertise with intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP) and subcutaneous (SQ) injections of laborato-ry rodents.
  • Strong tail vein intravenous dosing expertise is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform flow cytometric experiments including sample preparation, staining, and basic data analysis.
  • Experience with tumor immunology, immune-cell isolation, and ex vivo functional assays.
  • Valid FELASA B/C or LTK 1/2 animal license (or equivalent).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously within project time-lines.
  • Excellent record-keeping and data management skills; able to compile results for internal reports.
  • Familiarity with RNA or nanoparticle-based therapeutics is a plus.
  • Experience with longitudinal imaging and biodistribution studies is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to GLP-like preclinical documentation or biotech environments is a plus.
