Scientific Proposal Writer (NCCR) 40 - 50 %

National Centers of Competence in Research (NCCR; SNF NCCR) are the largest funding program of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Applications require submitting a 60-page proposal, containing not only a research plan, but also planned developments in several key areas, including Communication, Outreach, Education and Training. The deadline for the submission of the proposal is the 03.02.2025.

The goal of this position is to help write our NCCR proposal focusing on sepsis and is based on a 40-50% employment starting immediately for three months (November 2024 to January 2025).

Your responsibilities

  • Set up a timeline to ensure readiness of the proposal by end of January 2025
  • Overview of the writing progresses
  • Engage closely with principal investigators, work package leaders, and other stakeholders to gather input on specific scientific and technical details.
  • Coordinate writing phase with the consortium people
  • Develop a clear outline and logical flow for the proposal, ensuring that each section aligns with NCCR objectives.
  • Correct and proofread the proposal, prepare the proposal for internal and external reviews, incorporating feedback and make revisions accordingly: First feedback in December 2024 and Proofreading in January 2025
  • Ensure that all documents, appendices, and required forms are complete, accurate, and ready for submission.

Your profile

  • Master or PhD degree in natural sciences or in medicine of advantage
  • Expert in writing scientific texts and proposals
  • Experience with the Swiss research landscape, ideally NCCRs
  • Background in sepsis or medicine would be an asset
  • Efficiency, reliability, and independent work organization. High sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented manner within different professional groups
  • Very good English, both written and spoken
  • Swiss/EU citizenship or valid work permit
