Start of employment February 2025 or upon agreement, temporaryThe Remote Sensing of Water Systems (RSWS) group is an international research group at the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag). We are dedicated to advance the use of Earth Observation technology to study terrestrial and aquatic water systems. Our diverse activities include contributions to the development of future satellite missions, methodological developments, and the demonstration of applications related to surface water quality, ground water pollution, forest drought stress, or spatial sustainable finance.
Your responsibilities
We are searching for a highly motivated, creative, solution-oriented, and independent communications specialist who is interested in environmental sciences issues to increase the visibility and impact of our scientific work. Your main tasks will include:
- Developing and coordinating our branding and communication strategy
- Working with our scientists to create effective communication materials (e.g. media releases, science stories, videos) to make complex scientific content accessible for a wide audience
- Coordinating and maintaining communication channels (e.g. website, social media)
- Developing and implementing tools to make our research results openly available (e.g. web-based dash-boards and data access tools)
- Supporting and organizing internal exchange, research group meetings, and public outreach activities
Your profile
- Degree in communications, journalism, media studies, science, or a related field.
- Experience in science communication.
- Affinity for modern and interactive visual design is a plus.
- Experience in implementing web-based data sharing structures is a strong asset.
- Excelling writing and communication skills in English are mandatory, German language skills are an advantage.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
