Start of employment : March 1, 2026, or by mutual agreementAbout the Chair: Our research focuses on the mathematical modeling and solution of business problems. We study stochastic dynamic systems using Markov decision processes and approximate dynamic programming, with applications in operations management and a focus on revenue management. We also teach mathematics and optimization at the Bachelor's and Master's levels within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics.
Your responsibilities
- Conducting original research in approximate dynamic programming, revenue management, or related areas
- Publishing research results in leading international journals
- Assisting in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics or optimization
- Supervising Bachelor's and Master's theses
Your profile
- An excellent Master's degree in (Applied) Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a closely related quantitative field
- Strong background in optimization and/or stochastic processes
- Experience with at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB, AMPL)
- Strong motivation for academic research and teaching
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent command of English; German language skills are an asset but not required
