Start of employment February 1, 2027, permanent employmentThe Faculty of Theology and the Study of Religion at the University of Zurich is seeking to fill a professorship in Systematic Theology, in particular Hermeneutics, as of February 1, 2027. Depending on the qualifications of the person to be appointed, the professorship will be filled as a full professorship, associate professorship or assistant professorship with tenure track.
Your responsibilities
The person to be appointed must represent the subject of systematic theology (dogmatics) in research and teaching in the entire breadth of its topics and issues. Special competence is expected in the field of theological and general hermeneutics. The professorship is located at the Institute for Hermeneutics and Philosophy of Religion (IHR) and is associated with participation in the scientific activities of the IHR (including chairpersonship of the interdisciplinary “Netzwerk Hermeneutik und Interpretationstheorie” and editorship of the series “Hermeneutik und Interpretationstheorie”). The ability to communicate scientific findings to the public is expected. A successful application requires identification with the principles of the University of Zurich, the ability to connect with the strategic subject areas of the faculty, willingness to participate in academic self-administration, and commitment to faculty and university services.
Your profile
The formal requirements for an assistant professorship include a degree in theology and at least a doctorate in the field of systematic theology (dogmatics); for an associate professorship, at least a relevant habilitation or equivalent qualification is also required. German language skills are required for this position.
