Depending on the candidate's qualifications, the post will be an assistant professorship on a tenure track, or an associate or full professorship (open rank).

Your responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for representing the subject of Practical Theology across the full range of its topics and issues in both research and teaching. Specialisations in the areas of preaching, worship/homiletics, pastoral care/poimenics; religious education, church theory and pastoral theology are possible.

A successful application requires alignment with the principles of the University of Zurich, the ability to engage with the faculty's strategic focus areas, a connection to the Church, a willingness to participate in academic self-governance, and a commitment to faculty and university services.

Your profile

The formal requirements for an assistant professorship include a degree in Theology and at least a PhD in Practical Theology. For an associate or full professorship, at least a relevant habilitation or an equivalent qualification is additionally required. Proficiency in German at C2 level is required upon taking up the post.
The Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies aims to increase the proportion of under-represented groups in research and teaching and therefore expressly encourages applications from such groups.
