Postdoctoral Fellow Position 100 %
Start of employment 01.02.2027 or to be discussed, temporaryA postdoctoral position (100%) is available in the laboratory of Dr. Christelle Le Foll at the University of Zurich, within the Institute of Veterinary Physiology Vetsuisse Faculty.
The project lies at the intersection of neuroscience and metabolic research and will investigate whether astrocytes are required for the full therapeutic response to gut peptides agonists, including their capacity to reduce high-fat-diet-induced hypothalamic inflammation.
The work will involve a combination of in vivo and ex vivo approaches, including rodent models of diet-induced obesity, stereotaxic surgery, pharmacological interventions, metabolic phenotyping, histology, imaging, and analyses of neuronal activity.
Your responsibilities
- Plan and perform in vivo experiments in mouse models of metabolic disease.
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and scientific presentations.
- Co-supervise Master's and PhD students.
The postdoctoral fellow will join an interdisciplinary environment at the University of Zurich, with opportunities to collaborate across neuroscience, metabolism, and translational obesity research.
Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in biomedicine, neurobiology, neuroscience, neurophysiology or a closely related discipline, with demonstrated research experience in one or more relevant areas. We are looking for someone with the following skills:

Required experience
- Mouse handling and experimentation;
- Stereotaxic surgery and/or other relevant in vivo procedures;
- Research experience in systems neuroscience and/or energy homeostasis (i.e., feeding).
- Excellent command of oral and written English.
Desirable experience
- in vivo calcium imaging or ex vivo electrophysiology;
- Metabolic phenotyping;
- FELASA B certificate (European authorization for animal experimentation) would be an advantage.
