PhD Position in Digital Innovation Management 60 %

Start of employment September 1, 2025, or earlier by agreement., temporary

The University of Zurich invites applications for a PhD position in Digital Innovation Man-agement. The position is part of an ongoing research agenda examining how firms, plat-forms, and ecosystems in the digital economy develop strategies, processes, and capabilities to systematically and continuously generate innovation, particularly in mobility and transpor-tation. The PhD candidate will be enrolled in the PhD program at the Graduate School of Business, University of Zurich. The position provides the opportunity to contribute to high-quality academic research, engage with leading scholars and industry partners, and develop a strong publication record.

Your responsibilities

  • conduct independent, high-impact research in digital innovation management, with a focus on mobility and transportation
  • contribute to research projects in collaboration with academic and industry partners
  • publish in high-quality academic journals and present at leading conferences
  • participate in doctoral courses at the Graduate School of Business
  • assist in teaching activities and contribute to the academic life of the institute

Your profile

We are looking for candidates with a strong commitment to an academic career, demon-strated through excellent academic performance and motivation for high-quality research.
To qualify, you must have:
  • a university degree in Business Administration (at least magna cum laude), Econom-ics, or a closely related field (also at least magna cum laude). Alternatively, a degree in another discipline with a minor in Management, Business, or Economics (also at least magna cum laude)
  • proven strong analytical skills and the ability to work with empirical research meth-ods
  • a track record of excellence in academic writing and the ambition to publish in lead-ing academic journals
  • excellent oral and written communication skills
  • enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team and engaging with international research networks
  • previous experience in empirical research (e.g., a data-driven master's thesis) is a strong asset
  • proficiency in German is an advantage but not a requirement
