The laboratory of Neuroepigenetics is a biology research group at the University Zürich (UZH) and ETH Zürich. It is conducting fundamental research that studies how the brain and body can be modified by childhood experiences and what consequences this can have for physiology, behavior and health. It focuses on adverse conditions such as traumatic stress and poor diet and examines the cellular and molecular mechanisms that link such conditions to diseases in exposed individuals and their descendants. The lab uses mouse and cellular models and a variety of experimental approaches including cloning, cell culture, cell imaging, behavioral testing, bioinformatics. The lab is composed of researchers, doctoral and postdoctoral students, and technical staff working in close collaboration on several complementary research projects. The lab also provides teaching to undergraduate students from UZH and ETHZ.
Your responsibilities
- Management and control of stocks of chemicals and plasticwares incl. purchasing, stocking, monitoring.
- Management and maintenance of basic lab equipment and machines incl. regular checking, organization of repair with institute infrastructure personnel, planning of purchase and replacement of equipment, contact and cooperation with relevant internal offices, services and company suppliers.
- Maintenance of reagents lists such as antibodies, enzymes and chemicals
- Organization and maintenance of fridges, freezers, liquid nitrogen tanks, cell culture hoods, ceel culture incuba-tors, centrifuges, etc.
- Cleaning, autoclaving and maintenance of glasswares
- Ensuring of operational hygiene of lab spaces including disposal logistics, biohazards
- Preparation of common buffers and solutions
- First responder to emergency notification for lab freezers, first aid, fire emergencies
- Collection and maintenance of lab documentation including progress reports, journal club, lab books, protocols and research documents
- Onboarding support of new lab members including organization of bench and desk, basic equipment, security and biosafety instructions, lab tour
- Organization of visits by external guests
- Suppport with administrative tasks and processing of bills
