Laboratory Technician – Translational Research Endocrine Tumors 90 - 100 %

As an important part of the USZ, the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetology and Clinical Nutrition treats a wide range of endocrine and metabolism-related diseases including endocrine tumors. Our research group is specialized in the identification and modulation of dysregulated molecular signaling pathways and personalized therapy of neuroendocrine tumors. We use, among others, cell line models, human patient-derived tumor primary cultures and xenograft animal models.
Your responsibilities
- Independent implementation of translational research experiments such as multiple drug testing in 2D and 3D cell culture, human tumor primary culture, cell proliferation/viability/apoptosis/migration assays, xenograft mouse models (including animal monitoring, surgery, injections and imaging), Western blot (including the JESS machine), PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, ELISA, histology, immunostaining, (fluorescence-)microscopy, FACS, seahorse and interpretation of next generation sequencing data
- Experience with animal experiments is welcome
- The willingness to carry out animal experiments is desired
- Basic data analysis and documentation of procedures and results
- Active participation in research group meetings and research seminars
- Operation and maintenance of lab equipment and facilities
- Participation in the management of lab inventory including the evaluation of new lab equipment
Your profile
- Practical experience in basic methods of biology and histology such as cell culture, tumor primary culture, Western blot, PCR, RT-PCR, ELISA, histology, immunostaining, (fluorescence-)microscopy and FACS
- Practical experience with animal experiments is a plus
- Basic knowledge in seahorse and next generation sequencing is a plus
- Good knowledge in MS Office suite (Excel, Word and Power Point)
- Basic knowledge in statistics is a plus
- Good communication skills in English and German
- You are motivated, team-orientated, friendly and authentic
- Detail-orientated and can-do attitude
