Implementation Science is an applied research field dedicated to optimizing the integration of evidence-based practices and research findings into routine practice to improve the quality and effectiveness of health care.
For the Swiss Sepsis Program, we are seeking a highly motivated Implementation Facilitator & Evaluator - to support the pilot testing of the new Swiss National Sepsis Pathway in acute care hospitals. This position is hosted by the Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care (University of Zurich) and carried out in close collaboration with the University Children's Hospital Zurich (Kinderspital Zürich) and several acute care hospitals across Switzerland.
The role offers excellent opportunities to deepen your expertise in implementation science and practice and advance your facilitation and evaluation skills. You will collaborate with leading experts in both Implementation Science and Sepsis care, while working directly with clinical teams to support and evaluate meaningful, evidence-based improvements benefiting patient safety.
The position is secured for 2.5 years and 40-60% FTE. Depending on interest and funding availability, there may be opportunities to extend the position, to build your academic profile ant to contribute to research projects and grant applications.
Your responsibilities
- Facilitation and support: Support pilot hospital implementation teams through workshops, coaching sessions, and Q&A meetings in planning the implementation and implementing the sepsis pathway.
- Implementation methodology: Select and apply established implementation frameworks and theories (e.g., CFIR, RE-AIM, NPT) to guide and evaluate local implementation activities.
- Planning, coordinating, and conducting the formative evaluation (data collection e.g. interviews, surveys; qualitative and quantitative data analysis; feedback to stakeholders).
- Knowledge management: Document results of formative evaluation and adaptations made
- Collaboration: Work closely with the local pilot hospital teams and the central project team and the work pack-age teams (physicians, nurses, project managers, data scientists etc).
Your profile
- Master's degree or PhD in Clinical Science (Nursing, Allied Health, or Medical), Public Health, Health Sciences, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years work experience in the healthcare setting, ideally as a frontline healthcare practitioner in an acute care hospital.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; experience in leading interdisciplinary team working groups or workshops.
- Solid knowledge, and ideally practical experience, in evaluation, implementation science, quality improvement, or change management in healthcare.
- Solid knowledge in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Structured, analytical, and self-directed working style with strong collaboration skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Excellent language skills in German or French (ideally both), good language skills (written and verbal) in English.
