Start of employment From Juy 1, 2026 or by arrangement, temporaryAt the Chair of Educational Technology (Institute of Education at the University of Zurich), the position of a doctoral student is to be filled by 01.07.2026 at the earliest or by arrangement.
The Chair of Educational Technology researches issues relating to the development of teaching and learning scenarios with digital media or in digital environments. Quantitative experiments are used to analyze the design possibilities of digital learning media-in relation to the promotion of cognitive, emotional, motivational and social processes-in the learning process. The aim of the doctoral student position is the development, implementation, evaluation and publication of studies, as well as the development-oriented supervision of students (Bachelor) at the professorship.
Your responsibilities

- Research with impact: You pursue an original and high-quality dissertation project in digital education that contributes to the lab's research agenda and addresses questions of scientific and practical relevance.

- Methodological strength: You develop advanced methodological competencies, particularly in experimental designs and meta-analytic approaches, and apply them rigorously in your own research.
- Academic collaboration and responsibility: You contribute actively to the intellectual life of the lab, engage relia-bly in collaborative projects, and take ownership of project-related responsibilities.
- Transfer with substance: You bring your research into dialogue with educational practice and relevant stake-holders, helping to strengthen the societal relevance and visibility of the lab's work.
Your profile
- A master (or equivalent certificates) in the field of educational science, psychology, computer science, istruc-tional design, etc.
- A strong focus on scientific work with a desire for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Sound expertise in quantitative methods-ideally with a focus on experimental research
- High interest in an academic career
- Courage to innovate, paired with a healthy dose of pragmatism
- Ideally initial experience in working in teams and research projects
- Confident communication in English-our common working and publication language. Knowledge of Geman is a plus, but not a must!
