CLARIN-CH is the Swiss national node of CLARIN – the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure, a European research infrastructure providing access to digital language resources, tools and expertise for research in the humanities and social sciences. CLARIN supports researchers in finding, accessing, analysing and reusing language data and digital tools through an interoperable network of national centres and services. The CLARIN-CH Coordination Office is hosted by the Linguistic Research Infrastructure (LiRI), University of Zurich.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated, curious and technically skilled Technical Officer to strengthen the CLARIN-CH Coordination Office and help bridge computational and data infrastructures with research in linguistics, digital humanities and related disciplines.

Key responsibilities

Researcher support
  • Provide technical advice and practical support on language data, research data management, data workflows and Data Management Plans (DMPs).
  • Support researchers in selecting and using appropriate standards and infrastructure services.
  • Contribute to the CLARIN-CH FAIRification pipeline, identifying relevant datasets and tools and supporting their integration into CLARIN and CLARIN-CH infrastructures.

Infrastructure and FAIR data
  • Contribute to developing, maintaining and improving technical solutions supporting FAIR and Open Research Data (ORD) practices in collaboration with the technical partners forming the CLARIN-CH ecosystem
  • Support the integration and interoperability of repositories, metadata, data workflows and linguistic resources within the Swiss and European CLARIN ecosystem.
  • Document and improve technical workflows supporting the accessibility, discoverability and reuse of language resources.

Your profile

  • MA/MSc or current PhD enrolment in computational/corpus linguistics, digital humanities, language technology, computer science or a related field.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in language technology, data processing and/or research software development, including Python, APIs, JSON/XML, metadata schemas and GitHub/GitLab.
  • Previous experience with research data management, DMP tools, data stewardship and/or research data infrastructures.
  • Good knowledge of FAIR and ORD practices, preferably for language data.
  • Familiarity with CLARIN infrastructures is an advantage.
  • Strong technical curiosity and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Good organisational and task-management skills.

Languages
  • Excellent command of English required.
  • Working capacity in German (native or min. B2) required.
  • French and/or Italian is an advantage.
