Start of employment as soon as possible or upon agreementThe Department of Chemistry at the University of Zurich consists of approximately 24 research groups that conduct intensive research and teaching in the fields of synthetic chemistry, life sciences, and energy research, as well as other chemistry fields. We maintain central research facilities as well as a diverse, shared infrastructure in the areas of IT and analytical laboratories, in addition to a modern, fully equipped mechanical workshop.
To support the Chemistry and Business Studies program, we are seeking a candidate with expertise in chemistry and business studies, as well as business administration. This is a 12-month fixed-term position.
Your responsibilities
- Organizing, preparing, and conducting lecture modules as part of the regular curriculum in the Chemistry and Business Studies and Chemistry programs, in consultation with the Program Manager for Chemistry and Business Studies
- (Co-)supervision of students during their Industry internships and their bachelor's and master's theses in the Chemistry and Business Studies program, as well as the evaluation of these theses in consultation with the Program Manager
- Reviewing and, where appropriate, implementing suitable pedagogical and content-related measures in consultation with the Program Manager of the Chemistry and Business Studies program to maintain and enhance the quality of the Chemistry and Business Studies modules and program
- Planning, coordinating, and supporting the Chemistry and Business Studies modules and exams in consultation with the Program Manager
- Organizing regular information sessions for Chemistry and Business Studies students about the program
- Maintaining industry contacts and providing substantive support to those responsible for public relations
Your profile
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemistry and Business Studies
- Basic knowledge of Chemistry and Business Studies to supervise and evaluate coursework and internships
- Higher education pedagogical knowledge and skills, teaching experience, and an interest in new teaching and assessment methods
- Previous management experience is a plus
- High level of independence and initiative
- A forward thinking and reliable work style
- A proactive and team-oriented individual with strong communication skills
- Language skills: Fluent in German, very good in English, both spoken and written
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office 365 applications
